Remember When...

Friday, August 27, 2010

I've been laughing with quite a few High School Seniors lately as we get together for their Senior Sessions.  My how times have changed.  Now, I am ONLY 34 years old, so many of you can relate to many years previous to that, however, just in the 16 years since I have graduated (O.My.Word!)  senior pictures have truly evolved!

Remember these?

Or these...

(Admittedly, that last one looks QUITE similar to my husbands Senior Pictures!)

I can't wait to see how they continue to evolve.  I don't like to be stuck in the past - I love to move forward.  I had to share this picture of a BEAUTY that I just did pictures for...I typically love, love, love bright, fun colors but I love the simplicity of this photo!

Makes you want to dig out all your old Senior pictures, doesn't it?!?!

Random thoughts of a MOM photographer

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I've heard this before and thought it was so cliche.  But, this morning I looked at my 4 year old and wondered how she got to be 4.  It isn't that I feel I missed out on the last 4's that I question what I have done - what I've accomplished - what I have the last 4 years.  There is nothing more I want in this world than to be doing what is pleasing to God.  Than to know I'm on the right track - pursing the gifts He has given me.  I have never felt before in my life that I'm "on the right track" as much as I do now.  I am learning & growing (and failing & growing) in the field of Photography.  I love this business.  I love the people I meet.  I love seeing a finished product and the few pictures that give me butterflies in my stomach because I feel "it's that good".  I WANT to learn.  I WANT to grow.  I WANT to try.  I WANT to fail.  I know that if I never fail, I'll never learn.

I pray God uses me in an amazing way that what I do will ultimately glorify Him.  It's most important to me.  And, in 4 years I want to look back and say...WOW...look at ALL you've done.

Now, look at this sweet thing.  Her Daddy's going to have to be careful with those big baby blues - you're precious Little Miss V!

All the beautiful girls...

And two handsome men!  This family just gushes with beauty.  It was so fun to take these family pictures as Miss J gets ready to leave for COLLEGE!  (Hard for me to believe she's that old!)

Treasure your times together as a family...the time goes all too quick!

FREE Family Session!

Friday, August 6, 2010

I love to take family pictures.  Moms are tense that their child won't smile.  Dads are tense because they had to get dressed up. and their kids won't listen.  Bobby and Sally are fighting because...well, because...and the baby should have had at least another hour of sleep!  And then....

It all just works out into a beautiful family portrait!

I am VERY excited to be holding this contest.  Here are the details...

You must nominate a family to have a free family session with me within a 30 mile radius of Toledo, Ohio.  If you would like, please also include why you would like to nominate this particular family.  To do this you must leave it as a comment on THIS POST.

The contest will end on Monday, August 9 at 5:00pm EST.  At that time I will use a RANDOM generator to choose which family wins.  The nominated family AND the person who nominated that family will BOTH win a free family session & 1 free 8x10.

Get your friends and families on board!  The more times a family is nominated, the more they are likely to win!  There is no limit to how many times a family can be nominated, however, one may only nominate a total of 3 (three) times.  (You may nominate a different family for each comment entry)

Can't wait to see who wins!!!

This is the real thing...

One thing I love the absolute most about what I do is when you can catch a moment that is REAL.  This picture was one of those moments.  Boy could I share a story about this moment and about what happened right before this moment...and Miss K refused to "laugh" for a photo all night.  However, I was able to capture this genuine "laugh" at a very "interesting" moment.  I got ya, Miss K!
